How To Generate A Certificate Signing Request (CSR)
The certificate signing request generation is wholly dependent on the software you use on your server.
For your convenience, we provide CSR generation instructions for the most popular servers and in case your server is not listed, please do not hesitate to contact us with full details of your server software and we will help you to generate your CSR.
General Points to remember before creating your CSR:
- Do not use the following characters in any part of the enrollment
process:
! @ # $ % ^ ( ) ~ ? > < & / \ - The Common Name field should be the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) or the web address for which you plan to use your Certificate, e.g. the area of your site you wish customers to connect to using SSL. For example, an SSL Certificate issued for mydomain.com will not be valid for secure.mydomain.com. If the web address to be used for SSL is secure.mydomain.com, ensure that the common name submitted in the CSR is set to secure.mydomain.com.
